It's Now or Next Year

Time gets away from us. We have great intentions, we make mental plans, and then life intervenes and those plans never get executed. If you were "planning" on starting an MBA program this year, this is a little nudge to remind you: it's now or next year.

For Full-Time MBA programs final application deadlines are approaching. Many schools wrap up their intake of applications in March or April so they can be sure to get decisions out to candidates by May (at the latest) and allow incoming students enough time to complete pre-program assignments and relocate in time for orientation. We're no different; our last application deadline is March 1st.

What does a deadline mean, exactly? For us, it means we want all of your application information submitted online by March 1st. This includes recommendations and GMAT/GRE scores - the two items that hold up most applications. Even schools that want just the application form and fee in by the deadline will not review your application until all application materials are on file.

If you want to be on time and you want a decision on your application in a timely manner, now is the time to get the ball rolling. Get copies of your transcripts. Put those recommendation requests out. Make sure you've taken the GMAT or GRE. Start working on your essays. Get the application forms filled out. Make sure you can pay those application fees! There's plenty you can do now before the deadline sneaks up on you and you're ill-prepared.

Most of all: if you've got questions, ask them. Admissions offices are crazy busy around deadline periods. While you may just have one tiny question you want answered in the 24 hour period before the deadline, remember that you're likely to be one of many people in that situation. So, ask now and save yourself the stress.

It's a great time to get an MBA - hiring is picking up, class sizes at MBA programs are down, and merit aid is widely available. Don't miss your opportunity!
